Urban gardening does present some difficulties in terms of space, but it can still be a very effective way to create food in spaces such as balconies, and small gardens can still make a lot of food.

Old car tyres are often great for growing plants in - stack them up angled backwards against a wall and fill with compost/soil, then plant whatever you want in the gaps - this works especially well for climber plants and beans etc.
